Hypnosis To Stop Smoking

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Hypnosis, or to be more correct hypnotherapy, is one of many smoking cessation methods currently available on the market.

Unlike willpower, it is designed to leave the ex-smoker without cravings for cigarettes.

Typically, this method will involve several sessions with a qualified hypnotherapist. The professional will put the patient into a trance and suggest that the person will no longer want to consume cigarettes.

Normally, several sessions and not just one are necessary.

Success Rates

Immediately after a course of hypnotherapy for purposes of stopping smoking, the vast majority of patients (over 90%) will stop smoking.

However, the effects are known to “wear off” and over 50% of patients will start smoking again within a few weeks.

Higher success rates are possible if combined with other therapies such as injections or drugs such as Zyban. This type of combination therapy is much more successful than any of the methods used alone.
