Lindsay Lohan Weight Loss – How Did She Lose 14 Pounds?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

To be fair, Lindsay Lohan did not need to lose any weight. You could clearly see her collar bone and she had no fat under her chin. For her original weight, she also had slightly larger than average cup size that did not sag. In my opinion, she has an eating disorder. But we can still learn from her how to lose weight because many people, men and women alike, can really benefit from around 14 pounds of fat lost.

How Did She Do It?

Lindsay Lohan has been quoted in interviews as saying various things.

Sometimes she says she has no issues with food and eats healthily. At other times, she claims it is not intentional and that she still eats at McDonalds and blames the lost weight on “stress” and “lack of sleep”.

We may never know how Lindsay is really losing all that weight. In my view, she does not look healthy anymore (regardless of her weight). In my view, she is eating less because she is gaining pleasure from other activities like partying. This is clearly not sustainable in the long term.

It is also said that she has been drinking a calorie-burning weight loss drink whose ingredients are fairly common and include caffeine, green tea and others that are said to have “thermogenic” properties. I think these are useful for your initial weight loss but clearly are not sustainable in the long term.

So it remains to be seen if she can keep the weight off in the long term. Ideally, I think she should try to gain back half of what she lost and then this will be her ideal weight.

Real Weight Loss Success Story #3 – Darren

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Here’s yet another great weight loss success story I want to share with you. This time it’s a chap called Darren. I knew him as a very overweight guy but over just a few months he changed. I asked him what his own personal secret told me and he said he followed only a few simple rules on Monday to Friday (pig out on the weekend so your body keeps a normal metabolism and never goes into “starvation mode”.

The Rules

Don’t eat after 8pm (or else it will all become fat because your body won’t burn it in your sleep).

Don’t eat carbs before noon.

No processed foods. These are laden with “bad fats” and other adulterants that will make you fat.

No booze, soft drinks, fruit juices. Drink water or tea instead. This sounds tough but after three days of pain you will be used to it. Mainly water is what we are supposed to drink and what your body loves most.

No bread or products made from wheat. This stuff will just keep you fat!

No snacking between meals. No excuses whatsoever – no snacking! Don’t try to justify any snacks!

Always eat a nice, hot, home cooked meal in the evening (before 8pm remember!)

Remember, you can let loose on the weekend. Your body needs the shock to remember that it shouldn’t go into starvation mode. And during the week, simply by eating better and following these rules you will automatically be eating less calories and “better” calories.

The Prison Diet – Is This Some Sort of Joke Technique to Lose Weight?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Could it really be that a “prison diet” could work for you? Could it be the weight loss diet you’ve been waiting for? Let’s take a closer look.

The Good

The good thing about prison food is that you get freshly made food: meat, vegetables, fruit. Not too much fat. You don’t really have much of a say about what you eat either so it’s quite similar to being on a diet plan where you get meals delivered to you at home. Like it or lump it basically. Plus, most prisoners are not fat and the literature says that prison obesity levels are less than in the outside world.

The Bad

The bad news is that much of the food is high in carbs. Although that’s not really as bad as it might sound, so long as you don’t eat too many calories. You might think that prison food lacks nutrition but there is enough in it to cope quite well as you’ll see soon. The worst thing is that much of the food is so tasteless that some prisoners lose a lot of weight simply because they don’t want to eat it and will only eat the bare minimum to exist.

The Truth Is Out There

Many people think that prison food is lacking in nutrition. But the truth is that there is enough nutrition in it and much more than the average overweight person’s diet that is rich in refined sugars, sweets and fatty fried food. Take a look at this picture of “Charles Bronson”. No that is not the famous late actor but the longest serving English prisoner by the same name. His muscles are testament to the fact that a prison diet is enough to even “bulk up” if you wanted to:

Ultimately, the prison diet won’t work for everyone but it does have its merits.

Weight Loss Hypnotherapy

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Weight loss hypnotherapy is one of many methods available to conquer what is fast becoming one of the world’s largest problems.

Unlike fad diets, hyphotherapy seeks to make a person “think” like a person who has no weight problem.

A fit person will eat only when they are hungry and they will not eat for the sole purpose of pleasure. This is the aim of hypnosis – to teach the patient not to abuse their food and to use it as nature intended.

Hypnosis promises to solve a person’s problems by recalibrating their logic and thought processes that are associated with food.

Unfortunately, the success rate for hypnosis is not very high. It is not fully understood why this is so as hypnotherapy does work for other afflictions of the mind.

It is thought that overeating and weight loss are complex and could be caused by a number of factors including disease, genetics, marketing, peer pressure, poor nutrition and food additives and that hypnosis cannot always counteract these other influences.

Weight Loss Supplements

Monday, April 7th, 2008

It is little wonder that dietary supplements to lose weight that work are highly sought after because they provide a potentially convenient way to lose weight. There are currently 2 different types of these pills:

Stimulants

These pills work by increasing the body’s work rate – metabolism and heart rate are elevated and more energy is burned as a result. Assuming the same amount of food is eaten then more fat than usual will be burned. This is normally the case because they often also have appetite supressant properties as well.

Such drugs include ampetamines and ephedrine. Both are controlled substances and not legally available for weight loss in most countries although in some jurisdictions they are allowed.

Herbal Products

There are many different herbal products on the market. Often they contain a variety of different natural ingredients such as ginseng, in fact often they are the same but just in different amounts so to form a unique “cocktail”.

Typically, they will boast of increased metabolism or fat burning mechanisms.

However, the jury is out on which herbal remedies work versus those that don’t and how pronounced the effects are. Very rarely do the manufacturers allow double blind clinical trials of their product to be performed which would allow scientists to evaluate whether there is an true effect or whether the placebo effect accounts for most of the positive results.

There are also a number of drugs in development but none of these are available to the mass market and with minimal side effects.

Overweight Calculator – What Is It And Can It Help You To Lose Weight?

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

An overweight calculator is basically also know as a BMI indicator. BMI is also know as body mass index.

It’s just a simple way of comparing your weight to your height. Some people like bodybuilders complain that it’s inaccurate. These guys weight a lot because they have huge amounts of muscle and the calculator incorrectly reports them as overweight.

For the rest of us though, these overweight calculators are a fair guide to whether we are overweight or not.

But in my opinion, they are really of limited use. Think about it, do you need a calculator or a computer to tell you that you are overweight? Of course not!

You know instinctively whether you are overweight or not. What’s more, you also know instinctively what your correct weight is too. If you’re not sure about that statement then take a moment or two to think again.

So, my advice to you is to forget about these tools to confirm if you are overweight. You already know if you are or are not, and if you are then don’t delay – make a plan today on how you are going to lose that weight.
